Tasmania At 220 and 151 for 4, 87 more runs are needed. Victoria 121 and 336 (Elliott 80*, Harper 57, Holland 55, Bird 4-54)
Victoria are back in search of their first win of the Sheffield Shield season after a stunning three-day fightback against Tasmania.
Tasmania are in a strong position, needing 87 more runs to complete victory on Sunday with six wickets to spare, but the match is delicately poised.
Will Sutherland made two key breakthroughs for Victoria, removing openers Caleb Jewell and Matthew Wade, who had started strongly.
Winless Victoria suffered another setback as they slumped to 115 for 5 at the end of the second day, trailing by 99 in the first innings.
But the 22-year-old son of former Test opener Matthew Elliott came on at No. 9 and a crucial 84-run partnership with Harper that stretched into the third day turned the tide of the match.
Elliott and the experienced Holland then put on a brilliant partnership of 96 runs for the ninth wicket.
Holland’s impressive innings matched his previous best first-class tally as he hit eight fours and a six in just 50 balls.
Elliott, who also hit eight fours, was on 19 when he survived a powerful lbw shot from Jackson Bird. He then frustrated Tasmania’s front-line fastman through the slips for four off the next ball.
Peter Siddle did not bowl on Saturday, with former Australian captain Tim Paine fielding as a substitute.
