Captain Josh Ingles declared the Prime Minister XI’s second innings at 221 for 4, four balls after Renshaw’s century as the Queenslander scored 101 not out from 218 balls.
West Indies were set a target of 309 to win and were 35 for 0 at stumps after 16 overs, with Craig Brathwaite 19 and Taginarayan Chandrapal 15, needing 274 more on the final day.
Renshaw, who has returned to the top of the Queensland order this season after a stint in the middle order, scored his 17th career first-class century and second of the season after an unbeaten 200 against New South Wales.
Renshaw, who top-scored with 81 in the first innings, struggled for touch early on and hit just one four off his first 88 balls. Spotted by Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese, he played with more fluency as the innings progressed, ending with nine fours.
Handscomb, who scored 55 in the first innings, was bowled by spinner Brathwaite five minutes before the lunch break. He gave away two chances on 41 and 54.
PM’s XI scored consecutive runs in 70 overs after quickly ending West Indies’ first innings to lead by 87 runs.
Resuming at 234 for 7, the tourists added just one run off nine balls before their innings ended in the second over of the day.
Fast bowler Mark Stecketti (3-33) got Joseph lbw and had Jayden Sales caught at second slip by Handscomb two balls later. Ramon Reffer failed to bat, West Indies scored 235 for 9.
By the time PM XI took their lead to 100, they had already lost two wickets. Marcus Harris delivered the ball from Sales into his stumps and Henry Hunt was caught behind the slash off Joseph.
Joseph and Sales were the most impressive bowlers, while spearhead Kemar Roach conceded just 10 runs in nine overs.
