Shikhar Dhawan in ODI World Cup

Indian Star says his focus is on the Next ODI World Cup

Shikhar Dhawan, the veteran opener for India, has stated that the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup in 2023 is his main priority. He wants to play more matches for India to stay fit and get ready before the major tournament.

Dhawan went through a strong period in 2013, sustained it in ODIs, and won the ICC Champions Trophy in June 2013 as the player of the competition. In just five games, he exploded for 363 runs, including two hundred.
Dhawan scored 412 runs during India’s 2015 World Cup campaign, averaging over 50 runs per game. He also had two big scores in tight situations against top teams: 137 against South Africa and a helpful 73 against Pakistan.

Focus on the ODI World Cup

Dhawan discussed his ambitions to concentrate on the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup in India next year in an interview with the Times of India. The left-handed opener, who has previously shone for India in ICC competitions, talked about how much he enjoys competing in international competitions and the satisfaction he gets from it.

“I love playing in ICC tournaments. There is always a different feeling and satisfaction and I’ve had some very good tournaments in the past. I prepare and approach every tournament exactly the same way. Every time I wear the Indian jersey, pressure is always there and the thing is, as an experienced player, I know how to handle pressure. The buzz definitely helps, because it adds motivation to my game. I don’t get over-awed by the moment, because my focus, process, and preparation are the same for any tournament I am playing in.”
