Qadir, who has played 23 T20Is for Pakistan, has previous BBL experience playing for the Perth Scorchers and Australia before continuing his international career with Pakistan three years ago. What was announced?
His record for the Scorchers was mediocre with six wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 8.45. He was a reserve player for Pakistan in the recent T20 World Cup in Australia.
“Usman joins us with a wealth of experience representing Pakistan and playing in T20 leagues around the world,” said Sydney Thunder chief Andrew Gilchrist. “The main thing is he knows the Australian conditions first-hand, he’s played for Western Australia and South Australia in the Future League, so he knows what to expect.”
The Thunder opened their BBL campaign on the first day of the tournament against the Melbourne Stars in Canberra.
Qadir’s father Abdul, who died in 2019, was recently inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
