Virat Kohli’s first T20I century came in the Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2022 against Afghanistan in Dubai, and he was more pleased than excited.
Good Break For Kohli
Since his comeback from a break, Virat Kohli, the top batter for India, has appeared to be in excellent form. The manner Kohli is approaching his innings appears to have been renewed, and on Thursday against Afghanistan, he was successful.
Alongside KL Rahul, the 33-year-old batted conservatively through the opening ten balls of India’s innings. But once he got his touch, the star hitter couldn’t go back.
In 32 balls, Kohli reached his 33rd half-century and waved his bat casually. He quickly completed his first T20I century with a spectacular six off Fareed Ahmed.
For his first T20I hundred, Kohli blasted Ahmed over the deep midwicket boundary. In 53 balls, he made it to the landmark. Kohli was delighted after scoring his first-ever century in the game’s shortest format.
On the back of Kohli’s century, India made 212 for the loss of 2 wickets against Afghanistan. This is the biggest total for Asia Cup 2022.
Afghanistan Spin trio Fail
There was an insane scene as the Afghanistan spin trio (Mujeeb Ur Rahman+Rashid Khan+Mohammad Nabi) failed against Indian batting.
They conceded 96 runs in 11 overs and didn’t get a single wicket. No one expects that the famous spin trio failed to get a single wicket.
In reply, Afghanistan was never in the chase as Bhuvneshwar Kumar destroyed Afghanistan’s batting line-up. He bowled his best spell in T20I. He took 5 wickets and gave only 4 runs in his 4 overs quota.
At one stage Afghanistan was 21/6 in 7 overs. From Afghanistan, the only batter was Ibrahim Zadran who showed some resistance. He first made 33 runs in partnership with Rashid Khan who made 15 runs. Then Zadran made 33 runs in partnership with Mujeeb Ur Rahman who made 18 runs.
Ibrahim Zadran completed his fifty in the last over of the match. He made 64 runs with the help of 4 boundaries and 2 maximum.
